There are three opportunities coming up in the Richmond area to hear speakers and ask questions about the proposed amendment to the Virginia constitution to restrict the rights of Virginians as to marriage and non-married relationships.
The first is this Thursday at the Weinstein Jewish Community Center (JCC) located at
5403 Monument Avenue. Panelists include: Rev. Jon Bartin, Virginia Council of Churches;
Rodney Smolla, Dean of Law at University of Richmond; Margaret Edds, Political Correspondent from Virginia Pilot; and Dr. Richard Lederman, Director of Pubic and Social Policy, United Synagogue Movement. The moderator will be Dr. Lewis Hodges, former Knight Professor of Ethics in Journalism at Washington and Lee.
The second is sponsored by Americans United Richmond Chapter. The topic is “The Virginia Marriage Amendment: Is it a Problem?” with John Sternlicht, Former Deputy Secretary of the Virginia Department of Commerce and Trade on Wednesday the speaker, October 11th 7p-8p at Congregation Or Atid - 501 N. There's another interesting forum coming up on Friday, October 20th at Congregative Or Ami, 9400 W. Huguenot Rd. at 7:30, after an abbreviated Friday night Jewish service. This forum is co-sponsored by Or Ami and Bon Air Presbyterian Church.
