Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has been mentioned in the media as being near the top of the list of potential running mates for Barack Obama. Kaine was elected governor of Virginia in 2005 after serving as Lt. Governor for Virginia (2002 to 2006) and Mayor of Richmond (1998 to 2000). Previously Kaine had served on Richmond City Council, was a successful civil rights attorney and worked as a missionary in Honduras.
