According to an article in the Asia Times, the Pakistan government has reached an agreement with militants in the Waziristan region of the country keep hands off Taliban and al-Qaeda forces there. Waziristan borders Afghanistan.
In addition, the government has agreed not to arrest Osama bin Laden, his deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri, Taliban leader Mullah Omar and a list of others wanted by various international authorities and to release a number who have already been arrested.
This, of course, is happening at a time when fighting in Afghanistan is heating up. This is not good news.
