I think that Afghanistan has pipeline and other strategic value to us, but in a broader sense, there are very complex interrelationships between the US and the various countries of the Middle East. If we were to take the economic element out of the equation, what would our relationship to the Middle East (including Afghanistan) be like?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25679032.post-87903319424538644312009-12-12T20:09:20.146-05:002009-12-12T20:09:20.146-05:00I have been very clear about this. What we have been for is the arrest and prosecution of terrorists as a police action.

In other words, strategy-wise, I am all for sending in spies and undercover operatives to find Osama Bin Laden and his cohorts and bring them to justice for their heinous crimes. And if you actually pay attention to the experts, the terrorists are more fearful of spies and special forces than drones and regular army. We need to enlist the local population in helping us with this cause, not bombing them, occupying their land, and telling them how to rule themselves.Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08185330355847710755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25679032.post-39684170055981504002009-12-12T18:04:03.609-05:002009-12-12T18:04:03.609-05:00Anonymous,

We are prolonging and even strengthening their insurgency and anti-Americanism overall.

We need leaders who will keep their promises to end the occupations.Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08185330355847710755noreply@blogger.com
