Commonwealth Coalition fundraising concert July 8th

The award-winning Kentucky-based folk roots duo, Wishing Chair, and Richmond’s own, equally award-winning Greg Greenway will appear in the round to benefit The Commonwealth Coalition. Sponsored by the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond (1000 Blanton Avenue, across from the Carillon), the concert will take place on Saturday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and may be reserved online or purchased at the door.

Originally from Richmond, Greg Greenway is a rare combination of instrumental expertise, soulful and moving singer, powerful poet, and sparkling entertainer—one of those difficult-to-categorize performers who have found a home in the modern acoustic genre. Musically, he draws inspiration from all over the map--gospel, rock, blues, Jazz, and world music. But his center is in the singer/songwriter tradition that traces it roots all the way back to the social awareness of Woody Guthrie.

All proceeds benefit The Commonwealth Coalition, a diverse group of individuals, businesses, and civic, community and religious organizations that have joined together to oppose the so-called marriage amendment to the Virginia constitution that will be on the ballot November 7, 2006.
